Like Gellir in the previous book, Hew is desperately trying to avoid having the king pick an English bride for him. He finds himself investigating some thefts in a monastery and accidentally falls in love with Lady Carenza in the process. (Yes, *that* Carenza!) Shenanigans ensue, there's intrigue and danger, the romance is that blend of swoon and spice that Glynnis does so well, and (spoilers?) it all works out in the end! I was given an ARC of this book, but this review is my honest opinion. :)

Hew’s very life could be forfeit from the choices he has made from both choice and misunderstandings that could shatter both Hew and Carenza’s future. Will she lose the only man she has ever loved. Will Hew lose the one woman who owns his heart and soul? Decisions are not easy for these star crossed lovers and soon choices must be made. Will love win or the duties of clan loyalty? Which side will win? Read and find out.
