Ratings and reviews

Despite the stellar content, this app is trash. Past HBO apps were flawless. Since launch, Max has been plagued with buffering freezes and they've only gotten worse. Now it crashes, requiring force stops and connections multiple times per viewing session. There's a chance the app may not work at all with high demand shows. It's ridiculous that a company could put so much into content and fail to take the basic step of developing a functioning app to deliver it. ATT ruined HBO.

This app technically does just about everything you need, including streaming, downloading, casting, and downloading the available shows/movies. However, it is a terrible experience. The app is clunky, inconsistent, fairly unintuitive at times, and just generally ugly to look at. This app will need a complete refresh before I ever enjoy using it.

The app on mobile is terrible. Most of the time videos just buffer forever. And in the rare case when you can get a video to play, there is a 90% chance at some point it will go into the eternal buffer cycle. Download/offline option is a joke. UPDATE for clarity. Prior to leaving this review I cleared the apps cache, restarted my phone, confirmed it was not a storage or internet connection issue, then did a full uninstall/reinstall of the app. None of those things made any difference.
