About this app

CINEMICE is an application that revives a toy from the 30's called Cine Nic,
created by Griñó Nicolau brothers in 1930.

CINEMICE uses his own image format compatible with the original toy movies. The usual format is 378px height * 3500px long.
This format is designed so that you can print with a printer digital drawings on tracing paper.

The CINEMICE is both a toy that can be useful to distract a toddler, while an older child to be initiated in the animation and scriptwriting, with a technique easy to learn.

CINEMICE animation is very simple:
The animated band has two halves: The top, and bottom.

If you want to show a cartoon, the drawing of the two bands should be slightly different.

The application can be downloaded from here has 11 movies inside.
They are an example of what is possible to do.
One of the films (Homeless), is from the Museum of Cinema in Girona (Spain).

To learn more about the tool that inspired CINEMICE, we recommend to visit the Museum of Cinema in Girona:

This clever app revives a 1930's home animation technique, using modern digital technology. It's fun to speed up and slow down the movements and the pace, and to watch films in reverse after reaching the end. It's oddly spellbinding to watch the simple little scenes unfold.
