About this app

Astar, from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, is an app to help you introduce your baby to the wonderful world of music. The app features a selection of popular classical music for you and your baby to enjoy together. Choose which track to play and enjoy watching the colourful animations of Scottish animals move along to the music.

Listening to music with your baby can help in all sorts of ways, particularly if you play at the same time:

- Communicating and bonding with you
- Listening skills and awareness
- Co-ordination
- Learning to talk

It can also help to create a happy, less-stressed environment, which is really important in helping a baby’s brain develop.

RSNO Astar is divided into three sections: Wake, Play and Nap.

Wake
Say “Hello little one!” with a selection of gentle music to rouse your little one from slumber and get their day off to a pleasant start.

Play
Make playtime even more fun with music you can sing, clap and move around to.

Nap
When it’s time to relax and have a nap put on this beautiful quiet music to lull your little one into a peaceful sleep.

The RSNO Astar App was developed in partnership with Ping Creates.
The RSNO is supported by the Scottish Government.

My comments are the same as others. Pro's : brilliant animation, songs are varied and excellent, my newborn loves it Con's : switches off unless you are on the app means you can't do anything on your phone while it is playing, the categories 'wake, play, nap' and I can see an 'A' which I assume is asleep, I can't scroll along the top so can only see these 3, small annoyance as you can still play the songs from the 4 categories. Overall it's nice to have songs&animation in one place.

I had the CD so I was so happy when the app came out. Glad a new kne was released as the old one kept crashing. I love all the songs and have used it with all 4 of my babies. Only issues are when you leave it playing it automatically closes and then you need to open it again. Also, I really would like to see an option to cast the audio/Bluetooth.

A great little app, I use it as relaxing music to get my little one to sleep. The animation is cute to watch when you're sleep deprived and the music is very well played.
