I really like the Spot X device, it works as it should but after an hour of tech support I still can't log into the app. continually says user name or password incorrect. tech reset password but no help, I can log into my spot x account but not the spot x app. they started a trouble ticket and suppose to contact me back. Ill update if I hear from them. Update: when trying to log into app I was on wifi. I turned off wifi, switched to cellular data and was able to log in. all is good now.

It's not as bad as many of these reviews suggest. Connecting to the Spot X fails sometimes, but switching the unit off and back on and restarting the app has always fixed it on my Pixel 6. An Internet connection is not necessary. But this app would be far more useful if it could select message contacts and add them to the device, and perform software updates via Bluetooth—not everyone has a Windows or Mac machine.

Between the SpotX and this, I am really disappointed. You would think that the App for the SpotX would provide a mapping feature where you could see the way-points you laboriously put in. Nope. You would also expect that you could have the app on more than one device, including your home computer so you could easily edit way-points, etc. Nope. You can't do anything on this app except download and send messages, do a check-in, adjust you tracking interval, adjust how often you check for messages, send an SOS and read the settings for your device. So, the only advantage to this app is that you can send or receive messages from a covered place while the SpotX sits out in the rain (within 10' of you) and it is (hopefully) easier to type a message on your device rather than the minuscule keyboard on the SpotX. IT IS NOT A FILED TOOL FOR WORKING PEOPLE, PEOPLE LIVING REMOTE OR PEOPLE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. Remember that it is using energy on the device, which, if you are remote is a very big concern. Better off sticking with the SpotX, getting a good flashlight and magnifying glass so you can read the tiny screen, and sticking with the SpotX alone (yeah, I give my thoughts on that on a separate comments page on the SpotX later as well!) Anyway, there is plenty of room for improvement of this app. Plenty!
