The term ashtakam (Sanskrit: अष्टकम्), also written as astakam, is derived from the Sanskrit word ashta, meaning "eight". It refers to a form of poetry, written in eight stanzas. Originally these eight stanza poems were composed in glorification of the Supreme Lord of the universe, Sri Krishna & His enchanting activities. In many places in India, these ashtakams are recited daily. These ashtakams are very purifying & surely will lead to eternity, knowledge and bliss.

The astakams in this app are sung by Ananta Nitai Das, a disciple of His Holiness Radhanath swami. Since 1997, he is a follower of ISKCON - The International Society for Krishna Consciousness founded by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada. He travels & preaches all over India and abroad. He can be contacted on anantanitai.rns@gmail.com.
