This a fantastic training app that teaches you how to use the abacus. Of all the abacus trainers, this is the only one I've found that teaches multiplication and division. The rest only cover addition and subtraction. My main criticism is the lack of floating point numbers, square & cube roots with trainers for all. Also animated and/or interactive tutorials and support for other kinds of abacus'. A free play mode with random problems would also be nice. 4/5 stars

Progressive training, broken down by technique. First only problems where you directly add/subtract beads, then later introducing problems requiring the "little friend" (add 5, subtract the difference), and later the "big friend" (add ten, subtract the difference), and so on. Each section has a short lesson explaining the technique. Settings let you choose whether you can keep trying each problem until the answer is right, or if you get only one attempt to submit the right answer.

I'm teaching my five-year-old (and myself) to use a soroban, and this app is just great. Thank you so much. Update: The ads really detract from the app, especially during teaching, yet I cannot seem to remove them. All I get is an error code. I have emailed the developer for assistance. Update: It was my wi-fi. For some reason, going onto mobile data allowed the in app purchases to work.
