This app is meant to improve adherence to HIV medications. “Adherence” means:
1. Taking medication(s) every day as prescribed
2. Without missing a dose.
Achieving adherence to ART is a critical determinant of long-term treatment outcome in HIV infected patients. Greater than 95% adherence will result in:
1. Better control of the virus
2. Increase in CD4 counts.
Strict adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) is key to
1. Sustained HIV suppression
2. Reduced risk of drug resistance
3. Improved overall health
4. Quality of life, and survival
5. As well as Decreased risk of HIV transmission.
This app helps in
1. Selecting the prescribed medicines
2. Allows to set reminders or alerts
3. Assists in taking medications at prescribed time every day
4. Tracks
a. adherence rates over a period of time and
b. treatment progress
5. Gives options to set visits to the clinic
6. Record
a. schedule Lab/Doctor visits for reminders
b. record side effects.
7. Provides basic info on the meds and daily tips that help to stay on top of his/her treatment, the virus & the disease.
