WGCU Public Media App:

The WGCU Public Media App allows you to listen to WGCU live, pause and rewind the live audio, and view the program schedule for the WGCU stream all at once! You can explore On Demand content, search for stories, bookmark a story for later, and wake up to WGCU with the alarm clock!

Live Streaming
• DVR-like controls (pause, rewind, and fast forward). You can pause the live stream to have a conversation and pick up right where you left off! Or rewind to catch a comment you just missed!
• Listen to live streams from WGCU even while traveling! Start the app and your favorite station starts playing – no clicks to start listening.
• Integrated program schedules for every station. You can display up to three of your favorites at a time or flick once to see the schedules for all of your favorite stations.
• One click stream switching – flip over to the program you noticed on another stream with a single click.
• Listen to WGCU in the background while browsing the web or catching up on your emails!

On Demand
• Access public radio and TV programs from multiple content providers (NPR, PBS and WGCU) easily and quickly.

Ratings and reviews

Use mostly to listen to WGCU radio 📻 live via Wifi. App not as reliable as other NPR players. Used to be better. After clicking on radio, then listen live, page with Play ▶️ comes up. Tapping that, there is a 2-3 sec delay before spinning progress circle. Sometimes no response at all, no matter how many times touched. 2nd main beef: after an interruption from other app, it halts playing. Unlike other NPR apps, does not recover. Starting from top, one must listen again to longish sponsor.

I like to listen around 3 AM and regularly get a message that the site is not available using the app so I have to search outside the app to connect and get to a site that requires me to go to multiple Web pages just to listen live to news, Rather than just being able to turn on the news and drift back to sleep I gave to fully wake up to figure out the site as it requires my full attention to figure out. Most irritating

The glitches frim last year are fixed, and the app is now back to its original ease of use and all-inclusiveness. I listen to it every day. Still listen although I've moved back north.
