About this app

This application requires root

DriveDroid allows you to boot your PC from ISO/IMG files stored on your phone. This is ideal for trying Linux distributions or always having a rescue-system on the go... without the need to burn different CDs or USB pendrives.

DriveDroid also includes a convenient download menu where you can download USB-images of a number of operating systems from your phone (like Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSUSE and Arch Linux). Around 35 different systems are available at this moment.

You can also create blank USB-images which allows you to have a blank USB-drive. From your PC you can store files onto the USB-drive, but also use tools on your PC to write images to the drive.

Notes
• This application uses features of the kernel that may or may not be available/stable on your phone. Tests have shown most phones work without problems, but please keep in mind yours might not (yet) work out-of-the-box.
• Most kernels support emulating USB drives, some support emulating CD-rom drives and kernels with the right patches support both.
• Most Linux-related ISOs can be booted from USB drives, but some ISOs can only be booted from CD-rom drives or require some kind of conversion.

Paid version
• No ads.
• Resizing of images.
• Add your own download repositories. Nice for companies or groups that want to share custom or licensed images.

A year or two ago this was the reason one had to root his/her mobile. But unfortunately this app stopped being maintained and no longer works on recent devices. Now on android 11 (and latest magisk) it does not show the image device, although your PC will detect the mass storage subsystem being presented. But the worst part is that after you tell the app to eject the image, it will no longer restore the usual behavior of your phone's USB and it will just leave it borked until you reboot it. Not pretty. You've been warned. This should just be removed from the playstore if it's no longer going to be maintained. Google should pay attention and remove dead and abandoned apps like these and force authors that charge for their apps to return the money if they abandon them. If meanwhile anyone knows a working alternative, not abandoned by its author, it would be appreciated.

Used on all of my previous devices and I rooted my Pixel 2 specifically for this app. Unfortunately it isn't compatible with my device. Google Pixel 2 (Unlocked) Android 9.0 The mass storage will not show up at all on the computer. Thank you, this app works wonders and is much quicker than writing a flash drive.

Not working galaxy s8 plus, says no hosting devices... Dev options set usb debugging, usb-mtp. Does it just not work on galaxy 7,8 and 9 models. Disappointing. Beta is the same result. What phones does this work for if not any Samsung models? To reply: OK thank you, look forward to suggestions. May help to know I've currently rooted it and don't mind using various kernals if you can recommend ones that may work. Currently on newest stock. Thanks, again.
