About this app

The Visioguide Naufrage 05.09.1687 enables a journey back in time to the 17th century. It brings to life the dramatic events surrounding the shipwreck of September 5, 1687. On that fateful day, 111 Huguenot refugees lost their lives on the Aare near Lyss. It is the largest documented ship accident in Switzerland.
The Visioguide is an interplay of video, audio and augmented reality and enables you to find out more about the origins and background of the religious refugees from France who climbed two Weidlinges in Aarberg. We follow the animated characters on their dangerous journey.
Old pictures and maps come to life and old psalms are heard, historical connections are shown and current references are created. Experts have their say and shed light on the Huguenot cultural heritage - in the Three Lakes Region, in Switzerland and as far as Germany, where many Huguenots found a new home.
Along the 7 km long route you can experience history in an interactive way at 15 stations. No previous knowledge is required, the Visioguide is designed to be user-friendly and the content is presented in a generally understandable manner and takes you on a fascinating journey through time for young and old.
