About this app

The Mönchsweg is a Radfernweg across Bremen, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein to Denmark. He succeeds beautiful routes in the footsteps of the monks who brought Christianity in the Middle Ages to the north.

For now, the app covers the section in Schleswig-Holstein Glückstadt to Fehmarn. The perfect travel companion forward a comprehensive basic data, such as a detailed, zoomable map with routing function, information on churches, accommodation, catering and bike services along the way.

The special feature of this app: The former missionary Bruno of Faldera accompanied the Monks cyclists and tells many interesting stories from the time of Christianization: Learn to listen and read as well as videos in German and English make the app alive. Already in Welcome Audio promises Bruno of Faldera: "I'll be there at the stations of the way, you further details tell of my teacher Vicelinkirche, by the warlike upheavals of the people of the Slavs, but especially from the successes and failures of our mission .... ".

At 190 kilometers, the route runs from the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bremen by the Elbe and Weser as far as Wischhafen. This is by ferry across the Elbe to Glückstadt, from there to 340 kilometers through Schleswig-Holstein up to Puttgarden on Fehmarn. The tour opens up the wonderful diversity of the north German landscape, which is still marked built by its century-old from field and brick churches.
