Ratings and reviews

I don't typically rate apps, but this one is not only fun, but you learn the characters while you do it! Ads aren't a huge problem as there are very few. You learn the vowels, which are the only ones that go independently, first, followed by the consonants behind the vowels. All in all, great app! Perfect bite-sized lessons that you can do in a car ride, or something like that.

Decent game, in my opinion. However, there are a few minor errors in the game, namely alternative readings for some kanji (四 isn't just read as し, for it can also be read as よん.) Also, the kanji are referred to in game as japanese. Example from the game: "Which Japanese is correct?" Overall, excellent game for beginners, just minor errors that could get fixed for increased accuracy, but aren't required.

I absolutely love this app, it's so fun and addictive to play! It's pretty easy to learn the characters, and the general game play is fun. One small complaint, though. The ads. There aren't a WHOLE ton of them, and I understand that the developers need to make money, but there's enough of them that it disrupts the flow and ambiance or whatever. Also, every time an ad plays, the sound stops afterwards. Which makes it impossible to play, so I have to exit out and go back in.

Riko takes a break from beating up MardukCorp goons and takes care of some bugs instead! She is sure you will enjoy learning Japanese even more and it will make the experience better for everyone.
