About this app

Determination of the need to carry out a specific evaluation of electromagnetic fields (EMF) in the workplace, according to specific regulations.

The application aims to guide the user on the need to carry out the specific risk assessment as indicated in Royal Decree 299/2016, of July 22, on the protection of the health and safety of workers against risks. related to exposure to electromagnetic fields.

As indicated in the aforementioned regulations, the evaluation must be carried out in positions where workers are or may be exposed to CEM as a result of their work.

When an electromagnetic field emitting equipment is intended for use by the general population, it must comply with European legislation, specifically Recommendation 1999/519 / EC regarding exposure of the general public to electromagnetic fields, incorporated into our legislation in the Royal Decree 1066/2001. This regulation limits the intensity of the fields so that exposure to them does not cause adverse effects for the population, making the rates established for the general public more stringent than for workers. For this reason, in workplaces with equipment and facilities that comply with said regulations, it will not be necessary to carry out a specific CEM evaluation.

However, in other workplaces, there may be a risk of exposure to electromagnetic fields for which it will be necessary to carry out a specific EMC assessment.

The application is based on the information included in the Technical Guide for the evaluation and prevention of the risks derived from EMF exposure in the workplace.
