After going through the portal and clearing the town, nothing happens and you can't do anything. No instructions either. Game not complete even though you can see things past the fence on the edge of the area

Got thru the last portal where the black fog tries to kill you, did everything I was suppose to do and now I can't get thru the gate with the blasters. It doesn't tell me what to do. I'm just guessing at this point. Going back thru the portal to get supplies and leveing up my weapons. Idk what to do. Help please?
