About this app

This browser app adds Pinyin romanisation to any Chinese website or EPUB, but some work better than others. Tested on, but not affiliated to, JW.ORG and the Watchtower Online Library (WOL) Chinese pages (app was formerly called PinyinWol i.e. Pinyin WOL). Annotation is performed by your device itself: this app does not send your browsing through any third party. Access to the site you wish to browse is required.

Features:
* Poor data connection? Page rarely needs to reload when switching back to the app.
* Offline? Use the clipboard viewer, or use the app as a Share target or EPUB viewer.
* Pleco or Hanping integration
* 3lines mode (if you must)
* Bookmarks (shared with our other apps)
* Highlighting and PDF export
* Change text size across all pages
* Dark mode available on Android 10+
* Audio available on Android 5+
* No ads, small size & open-source framework (parts of which are also used by Equipd, JW Chinese and AnnotatedWol)

Fixed in version 2.11.15 😊 it affected only Android 10, and XML-based EPUB files; it was due to Android 10 adding an extra validation check to XML that Android 9 didn't care about, meaning we had to change how one of our entity-values was written. Without this change, the annotator was crashing on 1st bit, retrying in 1 second, crashing on 2nd...

It would be perfect if it has the option to choose a dark theme where the background is black and words are white.

It can already do dark mode on Android 10, which your Note 9 should be updating to this month via Software Update. Dark mode on Android 9 and below is more complicated, and I'm not sure if it's a good use of time if so many people are about to get Android 10 anyway.

Worked once on uukanshu (right after reinstall) and after reloading the page, pinyin disappeared and I could never get to work ever again

Fixed in version 2.11.41. In Android 11, new security was stopping us when we tried to add pinyin to third-party advertisements on commercial sites. Update catches this and avoids trying to change the ads (you can still see pinyin but not in the ads: better than crashing). But please be aware the site you mentioned infringes copyright of books. Tnx
