About this app

one sec forces you to take a deep breath whenever you open distracting apps.

It’s as simple as effective: You will reduce your social media usage just by becoming aware of it. one sec is the focus app that tackles the problem of unconscious social media use at its root. It is designed to change your habits on a long-term basis.

one sec works so great because it is fully automated – and forces you to reflect on your actions – while they happen.

🤳 Balanced social media use
App usage drops by 57% on average thanks to one sec – proven by science!

🛌 Sleep better

With one sec, you‘ll notice both a short-term and long-term effect on your social media usage:

1. Unconscious phone habits are prevented right away (“Why did I even want to open that app?”) and
2. Long-term habits change because these apps appear less appealing to your brain (their “dopamine on demand” effect fades away).

one sec is also available for your desktop web browser: https://tutorials.one-sec.app/browser-extension-installation

We have made one sec free to use with one app!

If you would like to use one sec with multiple apps, please upgrade to one sec pro. You’ll also get access to lots of additional features and customization options.

Helpful in concept, and in practice when it actually works, but it's incredibly buggy, especially after a recent update. On many apps, it continues triggering the pause screen at random for as long as you have it open, making it a very frustrating experience whenever you actually intend to use those apps. And if you open an app to a specific linked item (e.g. an Amazon listing or specific tweet), the pause screen usually causes the app to forget what you were trying to access afterwards.

It only works *sometimes* and not very frequently. I feel like it should also have an "emergency" button that I can click to dismiss it if I *really* need to? Maybe you'd have to opt-in somewhere on the app to have that button appear? I don't know, I'm mostly disappointed it just doesn't work. I set it up correctly and it worked maybe twice.

An absolute life-saver. This app has reduced my Instagram usage tremendously almost immediately. Never has an app had such an immediate positive impact on my mental health. Such a simple app too. And they do it without pesky ads in your face. I'm thinking about getting the premium version so I can use it for more than one app. Big thanks to the dev(s) for creating something so important!

What's new

one sec 2.0 is finally here and it's so much better!

- Now using a new rapid fast intervention mechanism: the intervention is now running reliably and triggers instantly. This fixes a whole range of bugs. In order to make use of it, you'll have to grant a new permission after updating to the latest version.
- All-new modern Android design throughout the app.

We really hope that you like these new changes.

We can't wait to share what's next!
