About this audiobook

Fans of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series will be drawn to Wendy Higgins's sexy, thrilling Sweet Evil series.

What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences? This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.

Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She's aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but Anna, the ultimate good girl, has always had the advantage of her angel side to balance the darkness within. It isn't until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He's the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?

4.5 stars — So I finished this audiobook while on vacation, and thus had to write notes on my phone about my thoughts. So yeah, this review is going to be lackluster. Fantastic narration, Erin Mallon really made it easy to listen to. I loved her voice for Anna, it had all the emotions. The accents were great to my ear, and her different character voices were pretty easy to follow. The story really took me by surprise. I didn’t expect so many dark elements for some reason. The role the nephilim play for their Duke fathers is seriously messed up…I would almost label this mature YA, just because of the situations they find themselves in. I totally expected one thing from Kaidan, just based purely on the other YAs out when this came out, but I actually really felt sorry for him. He’s living out a life of neglect and abuse, and he doesn’t have a choice. Anna herself was interesting and unexpected. She truly was an innocent just trying to navigate this new world in which she was thrust. Her struggles resisting temptation, I felt them and understood them. And her father!! I didn’t expect that at all!! I’m curious how that’s all going to play out. I definitely felt the chemistry between Anna and Kai, even as it was fraught with angst and drama. But it didn’t bug me as much as it might have. I really appreciated that Anna legitimately had Jay *just* as a friend. It’s so rare that these YA series don’t have everyone falling in love with the heroine, so it was refreshing. I hope that doesn’t change in the next books. All in all it is an intriguing world, and I’m curious to see how it’s going to progress.
