Has the new South Africa – once an inspiring “rainbow nation” – failed the expectations it had generated? Is the country now in a crisis? Two decades after the end of the apartheid regime, Africa’s southernmost state faces multiple political, economic and social challenges. About the author
Giovanni Carbone. (PhD, London School of Economics), ISPI Senior Associate Research Fellow, Head of the Africa Programme, and Associate Professor of Political Science at the Università degli Studi di Milano. He was Research Associate at the Crisis States Programme of the LSE (2001-2010) and the Principal Investigator of an ERC-funded research project (2010-2015).
