Ratings and reviews

Imagine a book about the Mob or Mafia that includes Baby Face Nelson and John Dillinger but fails to mention John Gotti or Paul Costellano. That's what you have here. In fact Mr. O'Reilly seems to think that the Mafia ended with Donnie Brasco in 1982. The book is too short. In fact there are almost as many pages on end notes as there is on the main subject. This subject demanded much more in depth info but sadly it misses the mark. Wait until this one hits the bargain bin so it will soften the blow for the lack of substance.

Overall good book, I think the guy who rated it one star didn't read the summery which clearly states it's only a brief period between the 1930's and 1980's that the book covers. In which Bill picks some of the more commonly known mob members of those times. All in all in it's a interesting book and a quick read but if you were expecting an all out information and timeline of every mob event ever. I think you're over reaching for bill and his series. To write a book alone on Al Capone you would need 50 pages at least.

Growing up in NYC, I found the book very interesting and informative. Many of the names and stories I had herd befor, the book clarified a lot of them. Great reading.
