Having escaped from Mars, Dr. Ransom is called to the paradise planet of Perelandra, or Venus. When his old enemy also arrives and is taken over by the forces of evil, Ransom finds himself in a desperate struggle to save the innocence of this Eden-like world.

That Hideous Strength
Investigating the truth about her prophetic dreams, Jane Studdock encounters the fabled Dr. Ransom, who is in great pain after his travels. A sinister society run by his old adversaries intends to harness the ancient powers of a resurrected Merlin in their ambition to subjugate the people of Earth.

Ratings and reviews

I was a little hesitant until i found that he and JRR Tolkien were good friends and Tolkien the first reader of these books. While it very much does involve religion and Christianity, the story tackles it all gracefully and in a very innovative way. An atheist like myself and a follower of any religion should enjoy the collection equally. There are myths and gods and angels and planets and pure good and pure evil.

Instead these a few years ago. They're obviously about Joshuayah, but they are also really thought provoking. These are the books that got me into C. S. Lewis.

I love C S Lewis, his book are entertaining and thought provoking. I've grown up on his Narnia series, and now this space trilogy. 11/10 would recommend to others

About the author

Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954, when he was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year. His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics The Chronicles of Narnia. To date, the Narnia books have sold over 100 million copies and have been transformed into three major motion pictures.
