Cathy Bramley lebt mit ihrem Mann, ihren beiden Töchtern und ihrem Hund in einem kleinen Dorf in Nottinghamshire. Sie war schon immer eine Leseratte und las früher oft mit der Taschenlampe unter der Bettdecke. Damit war erst Schluss, als ihr Mann ihr einen E-Reader mit Beleuchtung schenkte. Nachdem sie achtzehn Jahre lang eine Marketingagentur geleitet hatte, startete sie als Autorin noch einmal neu durch. Von ihrem Erfolg war sie dabei wohl als einzige selbst überrascht.
