Surprisingly good sequel (this is #9 in the 'Governess' series). I really liked the characters and felt like them falling in love had a lot of reasoning. Victoria is smart, insightful and collected. The renegade prince is supposed to be a classic style character - arrogant and overbearing, but he is actually a softie and he manages to respect her without giving up ground at the same time. I wasn't expecting much because I was quite frustrated with #8, the book that introduces this one. But it was completely different, definitely dug deeper into hidden emotions and also didn't overdramatize the situation in the fictional country of Moricadia like #8 did. It made a case for similar nations in 19c. Europe. This book probably has the best writing so far in the 'Governess' series, excluding #3 which is a personal favorite.
