About the author
DAVID FREED is an instrument-rated pilot, screenwriter and a former Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist for the The Los Angeles Times. His work appears regularly in Smithsonian's Air and Space Magazine and The Atlantic, where he was honored in 2011 as finalist in Feature Writing by the American Society of Magazine Editors. David has also worked extensively within the US intelligence community. He lives in Santa Barbara, California.
