About this ebook

It's the end of the 21st century where technocrats rule and robots take care of humans’ every need. Your house watches you, knows your secrets, and talks to you. And your closest friend can be—a machine?

Gavin Bell and his teenage sister Fleur come from a middle-class family. Their much-loved, old-fashioned robot, Grumps, is running down and can’t be repaired, so a scientist friend loans them EGR3, an experimental new robot to help Grumps. EGR3, known as Eager, learns from his experiences, as a child would. He feels emotions—wonder, excitement, and loss. When the ultra high-tech, eerily human BDC4 robots begin to behave suspiciously, Eager and the Bells are drawn into a great adventure that is sometimes dark and often humorous. As Eager’s extraordinary abilities are tested to the limit, he will try to find the answer to this question: What does it mean to be alive?

I have four books i cant live without, and each of them i have read at least five times. They are: Eager, Eager's Nephew (the sequel), Fairest, and Kingdom Keepers. You will find i have reviews on three of those. This book takes place in the future (obviously) and focuses on the Bell family. Their robot butler's timer has grown old - which causes tomato soup for breakfast and cereal for dinner- so they decide to get a new robot to help their butler out. Mr. Bell contacts an old friend of his- Professor Ogden, an inventor- and soon they have Eager, the first robot in their time that can feel emotions, think for itself, and make mistakes. Gavin and Fleur Bell, the children of the family, immediately bond with Eager. Another robot has just been created- the BDC4's, robots that can "be your best friend". Although there's something strange about these new robots. They are acting too human, too unnatural..... After discovering a shocking secret, Eager and the children try to stop LifeCorp from making any more of these disastrous and dangerous robots. I recommend this book to any sci-fi readers. Wait a minute, i recommend this to ALL KINDS of readers! It doesn't matter what kind of book you prefer. You will LOVE this book no matter what.

I wasn't expecting much at all out of this book, especially as a teenager on summer break, but as i got into it, I loved it. It not only was a terrifically written and full of creative humor and suspense, but it also had a strong message. I feel that I have to say that Eager was the best book I have ever read. 100% worth it.
