Ratings and reviews

The storyline is interesting and there are times when tactics and situations captures my attention. However there is not a lot of plot and character development, and too much "telling" instead of describing at times.

A sequel worthy of the first book, a true continuation of a story that has its roots in the historical intersection of the Anabasis and the Hundred Years War. While the first story explored the deterioration of honorable battle as cultures fought an ever extending war, and the difference between soldiers and warriors, this focuses on the main character as he begins to live up to his legend. But how much will that legend effect him? It reminds me of something once said if Abraham Lincoln: Any fool can handle adversity. If you want to test a man's character, give him power. My only issue is how perfect John Geary is turning out to be. Losses are a part of battle, but any losses he's accrued stem directly from the mistakes of his subordinates. And, even then he wins massive victories.

I am officially hooked on this series. I'm not articulate enough to give a detailed review, I just know that I thoroughly enjoy these books. Two down and on to the next. For those like me, who don't want to read a book riddled with foul language, these books are clean.
