I think this desvered a 4.5. I really enjoyed every storyline, and all the characters were likable (except of course we dont like). However, I don't know if it is because I have strangely high standards, I felt like sometimes it was a little rushed or maybe a tiny bit forced. The dialogue was natural, it just seems a little bit rushed. Mayne throw some more details in and it will be fine. The world building was great, and the themes were very appreciable. I cried, I'm not gonna lie, in multiple places.

I went into this book blind (which is how I like to read most books) and I was surprisingly pleased. It's heartbreaking, tragic, poetic yet still so hopeful. This is an amazing first book. Great job.

Before becoming a writer, JEFF ZENTNER was a singer-songwriter and guitarist who recorded with Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, and Debbie Harry. He lives in Nashville with his wife and son.
