I agree with most reviews that the characters are quite unlikable. There is really nothing redeeming about this book. I didn't come away feeling good, or any smarter. The main character is a version of a person that should not be an example for anyone. She does nothing and is generally negative, riding her husband's coat tails. The whole book is just another expose on boring, privileged white people. For both those two points it just seems incredibly old fashioned and behind the times. I didn't hate it because it is a story and I was drawn in by the end, but nothing happens and I recommend reading something else.

Born and raised on the North Shore of Chicago, she is a graduate of Boston College and received her MFA in fiction writing from The New School in 2005. She worked in New York in magazines for many years. She now lives in Washington, DC, and teaches creative writing at George Washington University.
