It takes an almost tragedy and a chance encounter for two people to discover the benefits of home, heart and love. Joanne Rock's Last Chance Christmas has beauty of the season, the comfort of family and a chance to reconnect with a slower more uncomplicated way of life. Forced to slow down after a debilitating accident Shea seeks the comfort of home and familiarity to help her mend. She gets more than she thought when confronted with the one man she'd like to forget. I received an ARC of Last Chance Christmas in exchange for an honest review. Forgiveness, hope, charity and love prove to be the most precious assets on the path to healing the heart and body. Purely wonderful read.

4 stars — I’m a fan of second chance romances…I’m not entirely sure why, but it’s just satisfying to see people grow from who they were when they were younger and fix the mistakes of their youth. And that was definitely the case with this book. Sure, they had their struggles and they almost fell into old patterns, but I got the satisfaction I was after by the time the book was finished. I wasn’t sure about Shea at first…she was filled up with a lot of resentment and holding REALLY HARD onto grudges from her past. But as we get to know her, know her past, it makes sense for who she is. She doesn’t make excuses for those character traits, but she does eventually try to do better, which I really appreciate. I honestly expected something much different from the blurb, the fact that she’s hurt from the accident doesn’t play that much into the story. It was more about reconciling with her past. JC was almost too good to be true…luckily he made some bad choices to prove he’s actually human. He was sweet, thoughtful, encouraging, supportive…very easy going. His personality definitely made him swoonworthy. And the two of them together definitely had some great chemistry…both in the steamy moments, but also just in the fun flirting moments as well. In the end it was a fast read, and probably a fast resolution, but it works for Christmas books, you know?

Shea Walker goes home for Christmas and finds her parents have left for their dream vacation in Hawaii. JC Royce is also back in town and he is nursing yet another concussion, unsure when he will get back to his hockey teammates. When JC rounds the corner and finds Shea standing in the driveway of her parent’s house, he can’t believe his eyes. Shea on the other hand doesn’t seem as happy to see him. JC can’t blame her though, due to how they left each other 10 years earlier. Can a second chance be in their future? Can Shea forgive JC for the past? I enjoy hockey so this was a fun read! Heartwarming, sweet, happy tears, everything that makes for a lovely story! I recommend adding this to your must read list!
