About this ebook

You won't believe what happens inside Indonesia's most notorious jail!

FROM THE ACCLAIMED AUTHOR OF TRUE CRIME BESTSELLERS SNOWING IN BALI AND OPERATION PLAYBOY: Kathryn Bonella.

Welcome to Hotel Kerobokan, the ironic nickname for Kerobokan Jail, Bali's most notorious prison, which has been home to a procession of the infamous and tragic, true criminals you will have heard of: the Bali Bombers, Gold Coast beautician Schapelle Corby and the Bali Nine, among many others.

Backed up by hundreds of true life prisoner interviews, the truth about Hotel Kerobokan explodes off the page. In these filthy and disease-ridden cells, a United Nations of prisoners live crushed together in misery. Criminal gangs, petty thieves and small-time drug users share cells with killers and rapists. Hardened drug traffickers sleep alongside unlucky tourists, who've seen their holiday turn from paradise to hell over one ecstasy tablet.

Hotel Kerobokan reveals the true life wild 'sex nights' organised by corrupt guards for prisoners who have the money to pay, the rampant drug use, the suicides and killings, and days out at the beach. It exposes the jail's role in supplying high-grade drugs to the outside, the criminal gang that rules the jail through terror, the corruption that means anything is for sale, and the squalor and misery endured by prisoners.

From the internationally bestselling author of Snowing in Bali and Operation Playboy and co-author of Schapelle Corby's autobiography, this is the shocking, true life inside story of Bali's most notorious jail.

Perfect for fans of true crime stories and authors like Rusty Young, James Phelps, Chopper Read and Underbelly.

I read this book in one night. It's an intimate look at life inside an unbelievably horrific prison in Bali, fille with tourists and international drug traffickers from as far away as Italy to Mexico but some of the stories about the westerners made me laugh out loud, others made me feel sick. But it's an exceptionally well written and intriguing book. loved it. You won't be disappointed if you like grit, and screamingly sick and also funny true stories.

This is an incredible book. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great read. I lost myself in this bizarre world. From the very first chapter, which is fairly naseauting, with a dozen inmates lining up to take their turn with a hooker on the same soiled mattress. Kerobokan Jail is described on the back of the book as a bizarre underworld and it really is; this book delivers a gripping read. Sex, drugs, corrupt guards and hugely funny stories about inmates using their criminal skills to drug other inmates or rip them off. Made me laugh, cringe and kept me turning the pages. !!!

Well written piece portraying the desperate situation of convicted criminals (some wrongly perhaps) in one of the worst prisons on God's green earth. Probably the best place for drug traffickers to be placed rather than relative luxury in Western prisons. Having visited Bali myself and dabbled in a marijuana, I certainly count myself as fortunate to not have been caught by the police!!!!

About the author

With her bestselling books making a splash internationally, Kathryn Bonella, bestselling writer of true crime kindle, paperback and audible books, has established a global fan base. Her true crime books focussing on Bali, drug smuggling, surfing and Brazil have become compulsory reading for many surfers and travellers, especially those who travel to Bali and Brazil.

Kathryn studied as a journalist at RMIT in Melbourne, moved to London to freelance for print and TV, then returned to Australia in 2000 to produce for 60 Minutes.

It was a true crime story about a 27-year-old Australian beauty school student, Schapelle Corby, being arrested at Bali international airport with kilos of marijuana in her boogie-board bag that spring-boarded Kathryn from journalist to bestselling organised crime author. After covering the story for 60 Minutes, Kathryn was offered the chance to co-write Schapelle's autobiography, Schapelle Corby: My Story, with Schapelle. It went straight to number one.

Since then Kathryn has written three more international true crime bestsellers: Hotel Kerobokan, internationally titled Hotel K, which blew the lid off the notorious Bali jail; Snowing in Bali, a true life crime thriller about the island's cocaine dealers; and Operation Playboy, the adrenaline-pumping true crime story of surfers trafficking drugs across the globe and the international police chase for the organised crime gang.

In 2019, Kathryn and Schapelle updated My Story, 13 years after releasing the original.

If you are a fan of true crime biography books, mafia books, organised crime books, books about hoaxes, deceptions and murder and mayhem then these brilliant, bestselling books are for YOU!
