About this ebook

On the very day that Jacky Faber is to wed her true love, she is kidnapped by British Naval Intelligence and forced to embark on yet another daring mission—this time to search for sunken Spanish gold. But when Jacky is involved, things don't always go as planned.

Jacky has survived battles on the high seas, the stifling propriety of a Boston finishing school, and even confinement in a dank French prison. But no adventure has quite matched her opportunistic street-urchin desires—until now.

In this adventure, the indomitable Jacky Faber almost secures her dream life with her beloved fiancé Jaimy Fletcher. At the last minute, however, she is kidnapped and forced to work for the British Intelligence to avoid being hanged for past crimes. This time she must dive for lost gold on a sunken Spanish ship, the Santa Magdalena. As in other books in the series, Jacky is as feisty and ingenious as ever. Although her exploits are very farfetched, Meyer’s deft ability to create tense situations and interesting characters helps to keep her adventures appealing. Jacky’s sexual experiences are definitely more graphic and make it a questionable read for young teens. Meyer’s penchant for referencing other works of fiction is probably only noticed by adults, but definitely casts a different light on characters from works such as Gone With the Wind. Although this work by far is not the best in the series, it is recommended for grades seven and up.
