About this ebook

From the author of the New York Times bestselling novel Fish in a Tree

Carley uses humor and street smarts to keep her emotional walls high and thick. But the day she becomes a foster child, and moves in with the Murphys, she's blindsided. This loving, bustling family shows Carley the stable family life she never thought existed, and she feels like an alien in their cookie-cutter-perfect household. Despite her resistance, the Murphys eventually show her what it feels like to belong--until her mother wants her back and Carley has to decide where and how to live. She's not really a Murphy, but the gifts they've given her have opened up a new future.

"Hunt's writing is fearless and One For The Murphys is a story that is at once compassionate, thought-provoking and beautifully told. From the first page, I was drawn into Carley's story. She is a character not to be missed or forgotten." —Jacqueline Woodson, National Book Award-winning author of Brown Girl Dreaming

Winner of the Tassy Walden Award for New Voice in Children's Literature

Bye this title you would think that I hate reading. I do, but this book changed it all. It reminds me why I use to read and then I would get bored. I love book revolving about a child who grows up tough in the real world. Great book. Also she learns alot and has changed.

I never had a favorite author until I read Lynda Mullaly Hunts' books, and I have to say, this book is particularly breath taking. I may only be 14, and I may have a lot of books I will read in the future, but this book became my all time favorite read within the first two chapters. However, make sure to prepare a box of tissues before you start reading this one. And don't start reading until your ready to binge it. If you love this book as much as I do, make sure to check out Lynda Mullaly Hunts' "Fish in a Tree". I also recommend Han Nolans' "Crazy".

This book was worth a lost night of sleep. So wish a sequel would come out about how Carly did after and if she ever became a teacher or saw the Murphys again. Such a really wonderful story.
