About this ebook

In this #1 New York Times bestselling thriller, after taking on a foreclosure case, defense attorney Mickey Haller fights to prove his client’s innocence—but first he must follow a trail of black market evidence to its sinister end.   Mickey Haller has fallen on tough times. He expands his business into foreclosure defense, only to see one of his clients accused of killing the banker she blames for trying to take away her home.

Mickey puts his team into high gear to exonerate Lisa Trammel, even though the evidence and his own suspicions tell him his client is guilty. Soon after he learns that the victim had black market dealings of his own, Haller is assaulted, too -- and he's certain he's on the right trail.

Despite the danger and uncertainty, Haller mounts the best defense of his career in a trial where the last surprise comes after the verdict is in. Connelly proves again why he "may very well be the best novelist working in the United States today" (San Francisco Chronicle).

Yadda, yadda, yadda.... Another slick Mickey Haller courtroom procedural from Connelly with evidence from a Facebook friend who spins the story to a dramatic conclusion. Knowing his success with the new movie, The Lincoln Lawyer, Connelly crafts another movie screenplay. Good for a quick read. Don't a expect stunning novel though. J.P. Miller. Cambridge, MA

Pages before every chapters are missing, it is really annoying and frustrating. Please fix that disturbing problem, I don't want to miss anything. It is the only reason I don't give a 5-star.

Mickey Haller defends a client accused of killing the banker heading up the mortgage loan division responsible for forclosure actions against her home. As usual with Michael Connelly, the novel is well written and the court scenes are like a tightly contested tennis match with one side winning points and the other countering. Was the woman set up or is she guilty of murder? These are the points under question. Mickey Haller is an excellent character who shows the difficulty in earing a living and working with a questionable client who is very demanding. He manages his business and family life with constant emotional and financial struggles that are common to many of us and thus becomes sympathetic and a person the reader will root to succeed.
