About this ebook

#1 New York Times bestselling author Peter Straub’s classic tale of horror, secrets, and the dangerous ghosts of the past...

What was the worst thing you’ve ever done?

In the sleepy town of Milburn, New York, four old men gather to tell each other stories—some true, some made-up, all of them frightening. A simple pastime to divert themselves from their quiet lives.

But one story is coming back to haunt them and their small town. A tale of something they did long ago. A wicked mistake. A horrifying accident. And they are about to learn that no one can bury the past forever...

I have read Ghost Story more than once. It's one of the best horror novels ever written. Straub was an unmatched master of creating dread and atmospheric evil. The idea that some horrible thing could appear as anyone at any time, anywhere, is what makes this book so terrifying. I'll probably be sleeping with lights on tonight.

I read so many wonderful reviews of this book I just had to read it. That's time I can never get back. This book was stupid, story was stupid. Long and drawn out with so many minor details of every single thought and object I. This story bored me to death. I think all of you who loved this story are part of Anna's entourage.

Interesting; the book invokes First Nation's folklore and has some German characters. I found the movie much more frightening and different. I see the book more as a mystery, as the story does not seem to end in a definitive way as the movie does. The book has many characters so notes are recommended.
