About this ebook

A twist of fate offers a troubled huckster a chance to start over in the #1 New York Times–bestselling author’s inspiring series debut.

Chicago celebrity Charles James has a terrible recurring nightmare. In it, he finds himself walking down a long, broken highway lined in flames. By day, he wonders why he’s so haunted and unhappy when he has all the fame and fortune he ever wanted. Coming from a childhood of poverty and pain, his life should be a dream come true . . .

He came by his wealth legally, but questionably. Using the power of his personality, he seduced people out of their hard-earned money. When financial ruin driven one of his customers to suicide, Charles is shaken. As his carefully crafted façade breaks down, he begins to question his choices, his relationships, his future . . . and the type of man he’s become.

Then a remarkable turn of events gives Charles something he never expected: a second chance . But making the most of it will require a long journey—walking the entire stretch of Route 66.
