About this ebook

Elizabeth St. Claire has always been hard to please. Dreaming solely of Highlander men her whole life, no prancing London Lord can stand a chance at winning her heart...

... But perhaps a Scotsman can.

Elizabeth watches intrigued as the Highlander of her dreams, a Scotsman named Hamish Robb, arrives to oversee her season at the behest of her cousin, the Duke of Caithness. Elizabeth doesn’t hide her feelings for the striking Scot. But Hamish, determined to obey his order to protect the St. Claire sisters, steadfastly rejects her every seducing lure.

Believing that the debutante Elizabeth deserves a better, wealthier man, Hamish continues to turn away from her affection, even though he doesn’t exactly want to. Can this Highlander Scot resist the tempting seductress’ attempts to win his heart?

Pick a chair and this book, and prepare to be delighted and amused. Hamish and Ranald are to serve as emissaries in the Duke of Cathness’ stead, to oversee the seasons for the Duke’s newfound cousins. Anne, Elizabeth, Victoria and Mary are living in the Duke’s house, supervised by their aunt Esmerelda. The Duke has provided them money for the season and it’s accoutrements, as well as dowries, to see these girls wed and happy. But, the Scotsmen in London, especially during the season, are sure to bring no end of curiosity. These four sisters are clever, fun, a bit headstrong and wholly intriguing. And on the surface, their aunt Esmerelda is ruling with an iron fist, solidly grounded in the ways of the ton, and wholly appropriate for their sponsor – as she is a highly placed dowager in society. Oh this was such fun, and so many characters familiar from earlier books in the series, and plenty of action and moments to laugh. From Hamish being manhandled (and nearly ravaged) by the leading light in a retiring room at Almack’s their first night out as chaperones, to the leading contender for Elizabeth’s hand being named Twiggenberry, and replete odorous pomade, the back and forth here is funny, as the fires burn for all the young women, just not as their aunt would have it. A kidnapping, two runaways and two harrowing treks to Gretna Green have the verra capable Hamish and Ranald near their wits’ end, with both finding themselves in quandaries: serve their Duke and see them married, or allow love to grow and perhaps risk his wrath. From Anne’s solid protestations of being ‘out of the frenzy’, to Mary’s starry-eyed love, Elizabeth’s naiveté wrapped in the desire of her heart and Victoria’s inability to keep a secret in the midst of her outrageous utterances, the story is wonderfully quick to move, and readers of the series will instantly recognize (and love the insertions) from friends and family met earlier in the series. If you’ve not read the series, after the epilogue, you most certainly will want to grab every book in the series – and be prepared for laughter, heart, steam and plenty of happy endings. I can’t wait for the stories of Isobel and Catriona and their debuts in London – I know that these are characters that everyone can find someone to love within! York has done it again – melded great romance and plenty of obstacles to show the power of love winning out – and taking readers on a journey full of heart. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

LOVED this book! It's another sexy romance with a Scottish Highlander written as only the Queen of Hotness herself can write. I loved the characters and the way the author immersed me in their story and the time period. Anytime a woman is feeling unappreciated or having poor options, all we need to do is to read one of these books and see what it's really like to have no options. There's just something about the author's Highlanders that reaches right out of the pages to grab my attention and hold it until the very last page. Fans of the genre will love this book. While this is part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however, it's so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. The author is on my must read authors' list.

Elizabeth and her sisters are beginning their first season at the direction of their cousin a Scottish duke. While Elizabeth isn’t averse to finding a husband, what she really wants is a Scotsman. Hamish and his friend are sent to London to act as emissaries for the duke in overseeing the St. Claire’s girls as they are led by their aunt on a husband hunt. This is a fun rowdy story with plenty of laughs especially when the sisters are all together. The beginning felt rushed between Elizabeth and Hamish and I wasn’t particular to her lack of innocence or his fear and angst when put in a compromising position. However, at around the fifty percent mark this book took off and I fell in love with pretty much everything afterwards. It’s a fast read with witty dialogue, villains, humor and a bit of steam. This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press. Multi POV Safe Possible trigger
