A poor read and even more depressing depressing is that it seems to get good reviews and is widely read. The characters, such as there are, are boring cliches. Descriptions are pedestrian: "piecing blue eyes", " shot a glance", eyes that "sparkle"; and more of similar ilk. The editors or the writer, do not know the difference between inferred and implied. It's just poor grammar, lack of erudition, poor writing, weak imagination. A waste of time and money.

If you're a fan of Rebus by Ian Rankin, you'll enjoy the DCI Lorrimer series by Alex Gray. They're hard books to put down, they keep you wanting more. Plus being set in Glasgow, you can actually visualise the streets. Definitely recommend.

Poorly written, rambling in places, stop start story line, two dimensional cliche characters.
