About this ebook

A novel of second—and even third—chances in the charming series. “You’ll fall instantly in love with Cedar Key and this homespun knitting community.” —Lori Wilde, New York Times–bestselling author

For the second time in ten years, Grace Stone is starting over on Cedar Key. Grace first moved to the serene Florida island to escape a disastrous relationship. Now a visit with her Aunt Maude is interrupted by unwelcome news: Grace’s apartment and coffee shop have been destroyed by fire.

Grace is devastated, yet ever-practical Maude has a plan. While she helps Grace resettle, Maude even has a business venture in mind—weekend knitting retreats where women can craft, chat, and support one another.

But other surprises await, including the return of Grace’s estranged sister, and a tentative romance with the local bookstore owner. Knitting together her past and future will mean untangling the painful threads Grace left behind. But the result could be a vibrant new life—and the courage to live it fully . . .

To escape her previous relationship, Grace Stone fled to Cedar Key, years ago. Now, she owns a shop, enjoys life on the small island, and has a new love interest in Lucas, an interesting Frenchman who Grace would love to know better. Best of all, her favorite Aunt Maude, a mother figure since the death of her parents, is coming to live on Cedar Key. However, while Grace is away to assist in her aunt's move, tragedy strikes on her island retreat. Fire steals Grace's shop and apartment. This one event changes everything about her life, making her question her choices, her career, and her family ties. Nevertheless, this is only the first in a family of trials yet to come. While she lives with her aunt, Grace makes a career change, but just as the endeavor is coming to fruition, her sister Chloe returns to the family unit. Chloe's husband is divorcing her to marry a younger woman. She's a depressing mess; this housewife of many years is out of her element and trying to find a new life, later in life. Moreover, these two siblings have never been close, but they begin to see each other differently and establish a relationship. For Grace, this is a blessing and a curse. Fortunately, as her romance with Lucas becomes solid, her sister Chloe finds her own love interest, and Aunt Maude's and Grace's business venture takes off and is profitable. Everything seems better for the family unit, until Grace's former boyfriend returns. Grace must not only face him to move forward, but she hears about her own sister's betrayal from over ten years ago. In the meantime, Lucas returns to find Grace breaking down in the arms of her former lover. But the Frenchman does not believe that nothing was going on beside a nervous breakdown of sorts, and Grace confronts her sister. Only weeks later, Aunt Maude is ill and airlifted to a hospital with a heart ailment. My Take: SUNRISE ON CEDAR KEY by Terri Dulong is a yarn about family, friends, moving forward, accepting the past, and finding self. The author strings her tale with love and heartbreak, tarot cards and ghosts, and trust and abandonment issues to create a group of women who come into their own and lose baggage along their way. In addition, she weaves in a satisfying romance then adds some charming characters to give her island community a small town feel. Terri Dulong's SUNRISE ON CEDAR KEY is a standalone title, but you'll want to check out the other books in the Cedar Key series: SPINNING FORWARD (Kensington 2009) and CASTING ABOUT (Kensington 2010). ***Though the publisher provides the free book, I offer the opinion.***
