Ratings and reviews

It is mostly good writing, but the book has a lot of "empty" pages, sometimes just boring to read. It is more a collection of short novels than one coherent story. The author often seems to go against the facts he established before. And where the plot really matters, it is mostly gibberish. So, I am left with a deep feeling of disappointment.

The serial novel format and publishing extra discarded material is a money grab reducing quality. So is changing more for an e-book than a paperback. Unfortunately, Scalzi started strong with Old Man's War, but has gone downhill, in large part because of no longer writing the story that begs to be told, but writing what maximizes ca-ching.

clearly not as good as the original old man's war series but still a good read if u long for knowing the next chapter of the series just to quench your thirst. it's definitely not 5-star.
