5 stars. Without a doubt, one of the best 2 or 3 books I've read in years! 'The Passage' by Justin Cronin was amazing! So well-written, so captivating, so thrilling! Cronin - and this I confess is the first book of his I've read - appears to have the skills to be a master storyteller and at first glance an author that I personally would not hesitate to mention in the same breath as Stephen King. Even at the most basic level, his writing is rich and expressive without being in any way being superfluous. No word is wasted and whether describing a stunning mountain view or the horrifying attack of virals, the atmosphere is captured perfectly! Each character - good, evil, and all that lies between - is captured in a way that weaves a tale that is both as mesmerizing as it is ominous! And may I add a word of 'thanks' to the entire crew - author, editors, publishers and more - for NOT breaking this book into two separate chapters. Yes, the plot break between 'BV' and 'AV' is abrupt but to be allowed the 'luxury' if you will of being able to read uninterupted into the next phase of this dystopian nightmare was a breath of fresh air... well, ignoring the smell of decay, filth and murderous left about bits. Sure, it meant that for the last days I have read until almost literaly blindness has made me take a break, but what a ride! Folks, read this book. 'Nuff said.

If you like vampire novels then this is for you. If you DONT like vampire novels then this is also for you. What an epic story this is. Great character and an amazing take on the vampire. Theyre actually a zombie/vampire hybrid. But its done in a realistic way and isnt cheesy at all. I absolutely loved this book that is set over 3 timr periods in the future. Amazing. I would give it ten stars out of five if I could

the most enjoyable long way around journey to join since reading the stand. This book is definitely not boring Justin, you and your daughter make a great team. The characters draw you in from the beginning, and I'm yet to predict where the story will move next. Thankyou for an original and human book.
