About this ebook

The eighth episode of The Human Division, John Scalzi's new thirteen-episode novel in the world of his bestselling Old Man's War. Beginning on January 15, 2013, a new episode of The Human Division will appear in e-book form every Tuesday.

The Colonial Defense Forces usually protect humanity from alien attack, but now the stability of the Colonial Union has been threatened, and Lieutenant Heather Lee and her squad are called to squash a rebellion on a colony world. It seems simple enough—but there's a second act to the rebellion that finds Lee captive, alone, and armed with only her brains to survive.

The One and Owenly
March 15, 2013
A very good episode. It does not contain the characters who have been prominent up unto this point, but it adds depth to one we have seen before. I enjoyed reading how the soldier dealt with being held captive in a blind and bound state. Very impressive. As usual, Scalzi's prose is tight and the dialog is top notch.

Enjoyed it immensely thus far. Waiting for the next episode. Unfortunately this has broken my resistance to buying digital literature. I will pay dearly for this in the future.

We learn more about the capabilities of the genetically enhanced soldiers of the Colonial Defense Forces. A kidnapped soldier is able to free herself using only her brain, BrainPal computer, and her SmartBlood. Great story!
