Turning fifty has not filled Sally with joy. She's sitting on the Kings Cross to Harrogate train the morning after her disastrous birthday meal, feeling fed up and hungover to hell. And then a stranger climbs on board and sits down opposite her. You know those passengers who really, really annoy you on trains? The ones who invade your personal space, and worse? Well, he's one of those. And he's about to push Sally to breaking point.

It was nice until the last part.. Pretty banal and, as someone already pointed out, anticlimatic.. not 1 star because ask but the end is nice

You sit through the drivel and depression expecting a reward. It simply ends in a damp squib

A good way to pass 20 mins, I enjoyed this.

About the author

After a drama degree at Bristol University, Julia Crouch spent ten years devising, directing and writing for the theatre. During this time she had twelve plays produced and co-founded Bristol's Public Parts Theatre Company. She lives in Brighton with her husband, the actor and playwright Tim Crouch, and their three children. Her debut novel, Cuckoo, was published by Headline last year. Every Vow You Break is her second novel.
