About this ebook

A mother's love knows no bounds...

Gosport, 1941. Fourteen-year-old Vera has led a sheltered life with her overbearing, religious mother and older sister. But her world is turned upside down with the arrival of the Lovell family on her street. Vera quickly befriends the daughter, Angela, an impulsive, worldly young woman who opens Vera's eyes to what she has been missing. But Vera, unaware of the effect she has on men, invites the unwanted attention of Angela's father, with devastating consequences.

Outraged at the news that her teenage daughter is pregnant, Vera's mother sends her to a home for wayward girls. After giving birth to a baby boy, Vera manages to escape the brutality of the institution, only to end up homeless. Alone and struggling to make ends meet, Vera is determined to give her son a better life - at any cost. But just as their fortunes seem to change for the better, everything Vera has worked for is threatened...

I doubt anything will come of this but I ws sadly disappointed in this latest book. I have read ALL the other novels in the Daisy Lane series and was excited to read the life of Vera who was my favourite character. However there were several inconsistencies in a A Mother.s Journey vs Trust Nobody .In Trust Nobody Vera talks about having her son in 1934 ,about how her mother and father kicked her out of the house, how one of the Sisters was kind to her and she walked out of the building at night and how she only stayed with the gypsies for a few weeks. In A Mother's Journey she has the baby during the war , 1941, her father is not even around at the time as he walked out on the family, none of the Sisters were kind nor did she just walk out of the building, she stayed with the gypsies until the baby was walking and laast but not least, in the Trust Nobody Bert had died in 1962 but in A Mother's Journey he was still around in 1970. Needless to say I am sorry I bought the latest book and am disappointed that June missed these important details. It was l ike someone else wrote the book as the characterizations were also incomplete. Eeither that or june just threw the book together to make a sale. sorry but that is my opinion

I personally wished I read this title before the rest of the Annie saga, as it's about Vera's life. Fantastic read.....
