I love this book, it's the book you read the series for. You have to start at the beginning because if you don't suffer the waiting and the angst the book just isn't as good, it can stand alone but its more powerful if you've read the whole series. I've read some complaints about the author's nonlinear style of writing and I'll admit it makes for a more difficult read but it increases the re-readability and complexity of the novel. Max and Gina are one of my all time favorite couples.
