About this ebook

When a mercenary and his company are charged with putting down a local rebellion, the consequences will be larger than they ever imagined in this action-packed sequel to The Red Knight.

Loyalty costs money. Betrayal, on the other hand, is free.

When the Emperor is taken hostage, the Red Knight and his men find their services in high demand -- and themselves surrounded by enemies. The country is in revolt, the capital city is besieged and any victory will be hard won. But the Red Knight has a plan.

The question is, can he negotiate the political, magical, real and romantic battlefields at the same time -- especially when he intends to be victorious on them all?

If you're a fan of Mark Lawrence, John Gwynne, or Brian McClellan you won't want to miss out on the second book of this intricate, epic fantasy.

I got fooled with this book. I did not want to read yet another series about the Arthurian legend but I was to far along in the story before I realized where it was heading. Now I will have to read the entire series. Excellent author, I really love his fictional historical books that he has published with a slightly different name. It has the same sort of feel as his book 'The Ill-fated knight'. Excellent book

Incredible in its scope and knowledge of the medieval world and court drama. Especially excellent detail and accurate care of period warfare. Well written, with amazing depth to such lively and personable characters, and equally the rich world they live. Very, very highly recommended!

This series as proven itself. It can be seen that with each book, the stratagems; the politics; the economic struggles; as well as the deep history, and culture, will flourish. The only reason I give this book four stars is due to its structure. Though, the storyline- itself- forces this out of necessity. In the end, the vastly expanding story line; adventure; and mystery, will make this cycle a contender for best in its genre. Hopefully this series does not meld into a typical fantasy cycle.
