Full of twists and so often the reader is just not going to be sure where it is all headed.....A Great!! Read.... I.also like the way this author presents the essence of the "good" & "bad" that is within each main character.....Lehane also has a great way of weaving in humor so that the psyche of the reader can get some reprieve from the intensity felt in the reading of this content... Some of the scenes I read were very intense to say the least!..... Violence--suspense--love...& the state of our social-institutions and the grapple of what really is wrong or right...is ALL a part of this book.......His up-close reality of the way children are viewed and are treated (within our social-services legal system) is also completely accurate.............This book has the capacity to possibly bring forth some awareness of some real "holes" in our current society & child protective service laws?......The book will definitely keep the reader spinning & thinking the entire read (& after the book is finished too)........After reading this book > I am positive I will remain a huge Lehane fan and will keep a watchful eye out for anything else he writes in the future!

I enjoyed this book and I was not disappointed in the movie either. :-)
