It's not a really great book, but it certainly isn't bad. Yahtzee is a brutal satirist, flinging barely conceivable plot twists with break neck speed. The story is a parody of post-apocalyptic stories, yet still manages real emotional moments. And while there is not as much of Yahtzee's humor as I expected(ie very little), so it still manages an occasional joke. Basically if you're a huge fan of his work, you should get it. But if you're not, just rewatch your favorite episodes of Zero Punctuation.

Croshaw is a surprisingly capable writer and the challenge of writing a new type of apocalypse is well accomplished. However, the story doesn't achieve greatness. Several of the plot points are far too predictable. The humor and dialogue shines in places but drags in others. It's not bad. It's not great. It's just pretty all right. I'll probably read whatever he writes next; the potential for greatness is evident.

Yahtzee takes your expectations, sets them ablaze and proceeds to do as he pleases occasionally mocking those who disagree. What starts as a parody of post-apocolypse stories becomes a thrilling and legitimately engaging story and quickly evolves on shoulderback to comedy into a dark and brilliant venture.
