About this ebook

More than 2 million copies sold by Picador, more than 8 million around the world - now a film by Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings, Heavenly Creatures)

My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973. My murderer was a man from our neighborhood. My mother liked his border flowers, and my father talked to him once about fertilizer.

This is Susie Salmon. Watching from heaven, Susie sees her happy suburban family devastated by her death, isolated even from one another as they each try to cope with their terrible loss alone. Over the years, her friends and siblings grow up, fall in love, do all the things she never had the chance to do herself. But life is not quite finished with Susie yet...

The Lovely Bones is a luminous and astonishing novel about life and death, forgiveness and vengeance, memory and forgetting - but, above all, about finding light in the darkest of places.

The omniscient narration is unique and rare when it comes to most books. If you're looking for a fantastic book to read, you've found it! The beginning captures you into a emotional roller coaster and puts you in the boots of the Salmon family during Susie's death and how everyone reactions. The events are created to the sole purpose of what the dead do after and do they linger on the earth's surface

This story became popular a couple years after it was recommended to me, and then it became an eerie movie. Its narration is from a girl who was kidnapped and murdered as a fourteen year old.We have family friends that have gone through a similar tragedy. They have even gone as far as talking to psychics to try and communicate with her. For this reason, I found the perspective of this book fascinating!

Well written. An eerie and thrilling novel about a families love and grief, a child's intuition and the search for truth.
