Now a major BBC drama: The Strike series

When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, she just thinks he has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home.

But as Strike investigates, it becomes clear that there is more to Quine's disappearance than his wife realises. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published it would ruin lives - so there are a lot of people who might want to silence him.

And when Quine is found brutally murdered in bizarre circumstances, it becomes a race against time to understand the motivation of a ruthless killer, a killer unlike any he has encountered before . . .

A compulsively readable crime novel with twists at every turn, The Silkworm is the second in the highly acclaimed series featuring Cormoran Strike and his determined young assistant Robin Ellacott.

*** The latest book in the thrilling Strike series, TROUBLED BLOOD, is out now! ***

Very enjoyable read. The characters are engaging and the plot develops well. Several nights I found myself thinking, I'll just have one more chapter, only to find another hour had gone without me noticing. It takes a good storyteller to draw the reader in so deep, and there's a light humour to the text that balances out the darker themes throughout the novel. It's a book to make you forget where you are for a bit, and characters you miss when the tale ends.

Not as good as cuckoo calling. At times Strike played Langdon. Definitely not a page turner. You won't miss much, if you don't read it. Too much melodrama, and at times I felt as if I was reading David Copperfield. Nearly Quarter of the books tells the Sorry Story of Cormoran Strike, Another Quarter of his assistant Robin. Overall a bad experience !!!

I really enjoyed this book, it didn't grab me as quickly as the cuckoo's calling, but once it got going it was great fun. Strike & Robin are great characters & I look forward to reading more from them...
