I first read this book about 6 years ago and enjoyed it as much the second time around as I did the first. Feisty Bailey McShane was dragged up by her father, rather than gently reared, after her mother abandoned the family. With the result, her feminine side has largely been neglected and she will take on any cowboy or male who considers her less than intelligent. The one man who does attract her attention is Zack Rawlins, but she reckons she is too far beneath him for him to notice her. However, when Bailey takes drastic steps to hunt down the cowpoke that has been causing problems on her sheep farm, Zack takes notice. The story is well written with a good plot and strong characters. Crossing the big divide between cattle and sheep, especially in a time of drought, creates enemies out of neighbours. Zack finds that with his growing attraction for the wildcat sheep farmer, that it is up to him to find a solution to the problems facing the whole community. Although this book is part of a series, it is nevertheless a standalone with a heartwarming ending. I originally purchased this book in 2012, but also received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.

I liked the book. It was a good read. I was glad to see a relatively strong female main character. Bailey McShane ran her own ranch because her father had passed away. Although there were a few times I think she could have taken the help that was offered her and not be seen as weak. But she stuck to her guns most of the book. Zack Rawlins is a good guy and tried to help out Bailey. He could have acted a little different in some of the situations, he felt that she should want help when she didn't and mainly because she was a woman. Bailey even though she was seen as different from her neighbors (not only was she female but she was a sheep herder while they were cattle men) she still let them use her land for water during the drought that struck Texas. I really liked the ending and how everything turned out. I would write more but it would give spoilers. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review. The opinions in this review are 100% my own
